Turmeric, Curcuma, Haridra (Curcuma longa)

Internally: Systemic anti-inflammatory. Good especially for inflammation in the GI tract, can help prevent bowel and colon cancer. Liver cleanser. Regulates menses and builds blood. Anti- oxidant. Helps to regulate blood sugar. Helps to move stagnant blood, good for circulation and bruising.

Topically: As a poultice it helps remove infection, draws out pus and cleanses wounds.

 Can also be used topically to prevent infection topically on tree wounds. Turmeric cleanses the liver, therefore cleansing the blood and the vital life essence (chi). The
strong orange color channels masculine
energy, vitality and cleansing. It is one of
the most common spice used in
Ayurvedic medicine and cuisine. Best
way to prepare it is in tea and cook with it
regularly, ground and boiled, but can also
be found in tea and made into tincture.
