Location: First two weeks will be spent at the Punta Mona Center for Sustainable Living & Education an 85 acre off-the-grid sustainable learning center and community with an extensive collection of over 200 tropical fruit and nut trees as well as a rich variety of food, ornamental and medicinal plants.

Join us  at our Caribbean beachfront Permaculture Center for a richly diverse learning experience leading to a Permaculture Design Certificate.   Located on this unique paradise  are diverse home food gardens and exotic fruit forests surrounded by primary and secondary tropical rainforest and rivers. The property is yards from the Caribbean Sea. At Punta Mona we live and learn where tropical gardens merge with the rainforest, surrounded by dolphins, monkeys, exotic birds, butterflies, coral reefs, beaches and  much more.  You will have the opportunity to experience earthworks, a mature permaculture farm in full motion, community design and the visable and invisible structures that hold the individual projects together. This is an opportunioty to live and learn in a unique, beautiful and magical setting.

 

Description:
This 3- week, bi-lingual certificate course will explore the core principals of Permaculture Design and applications with the intention of meeting human needs as individuals, within society and community as well as creating harmony with ecological systems. Lectures and field- work we will explore different bioregional design techniques, natural building, renewable energy alternatives, waste and watershed management, community development, tropical orchard and garden design by creating and constructing diverse and sustainable ecosystems. After registration we will provide you with the course syllabus, recommended reading materials, travel information and FAQ’s.

Directions: Located 8 kilometers south of Manzanillo, Limon, Costa Rica. The final week of the course will be spent at the Tacotal Eco- Village in San Mateo de Orotina, 45 minutes west of the San Jose International Airport.

Course Fee: $1295, includes lodging and organic pesco-ovo vegetarian meals. Tico prices available by request, with proof of citizenship. Transportation to the farm by boat from Manzanillo is an additional $10 per person. Hiking through primary and secondary rainforest for about 2 hours to reach the farm is another option. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your space for this course.
