Permaculture Teacher Training

 March 7 – 12,
2018

This course is for empowering people that want to become permaculture teachers.
Our main goal is to create a safe environment for people to open and experiment with teaching strategies under our supervision and support.

The Permaculture Teacher Training is a course designed for people that want to learn how to share information in a clear and supportive way with educational tools that can be used to present information in a way where there is little difference between student and teacher.

There is a deep focus on the practice of learner based education and discussion about the results.

In this course we learn about how to effectively teach a PDC and other courses, how to develop curriculums, unit content and how to design classes of any topic.

The PTT is about creative, alternative education, where thinking and practice are supported by different perspective on ecosocial design.

To do that we focus on what is essential and fundamental, such as focusing on the main patterns in education and how to manage them in a way that the students get empowered.

What Will You Learn?
* How to design a lesson and a classroom, how to develop a course, promotion and preparations, hosting and celebration.
* How to teach a PDC or any other course of any kind and how to make a living out of it, supporting the needs of nature and of people.

The time has arrived for people to have availabke and experiment with New School Permaculture educational ToolBox.
Helder Valente was born in the rural countryside of Portugal and raised in a family of sustainably living farmers, times when oil was not a part of the current culture, nor television.

The connection with the language of nature was present at a very early age. As a child he began observing the phenomenon of patterns in nature and the way elements relate and interact.

While living in an urban situation and practicing his gardening knowledge at the same time, he was introduced to permaculture. At the time he was supporting the development of a social center near the Sintra mountains in Portugal and working as an artist. Since then he has been researching and implementing regenerative structures in different social and ecological situations.

Helder has been learning and working with recognized permaculturists like the cocreator of permaculture Bill Mollison, and other pioneers of this movement like Geoff Lawton, Doug Bullock, Rosemary Morrow, Darren Doherty and Sepp Holzer  in the major world climatic regions. In this process Helder has been researching & implementing sustainability principles in a wide variety of environments, from urban and rural plotting in the north and south of Europe to the the arid landscapes of Egypt & Turkey and lately on a big scale in the tropical jungles of Peru and Brazil. He has a deep pleasure in sharing knowledge with tribal Quechua and Shipibo indigenous communities of the Andes and the Amazon jungle.

Helder is now part of the European Permaculture Teachers Partnership, that functions as a networking generator to create exchange of information around permaculture education.  He is also involved with the permaculture council for Europe, that is organizing the next European Permaculture Convergence in Bulgaria

He has been ever expanding his expertise in diverse social and ecological contexts, finishing his Permaculture Diploma thesis with the British Permaculture Association around the subject of non-formal education in permaculture as a way to support the future generations. He is also a tutor for permaculture diploma jouneymen.

In this maturing process he has been developing his own teaching style and created a nomadic educational program called “The New School Permaculture”, that is a mixture of many different pedagogic methods, and adding some spices of game therapy, its a form of education in wich he provides permaculture knowledge , totally based on the needs of the student, so by that …learner centered…and with a big focus on the creation of connections between the right and left side of the brain, to support the development of the full potential of the learner… he calls that creative empowering education.
